In all things
They said it was the most remarkable winter in memory, and nobody cared if it was global warming. Then on February 21st I flew to
I grumbled and then prayed, which is the usual sequence with me. A good measure of sanctification would be the amount of time elapsing between the two actions.
I had a cell phone but no charger. A business office in the main terminal of the city that is
I drew up a list of things to be grateful for. I noticed that some of the entries were taken from the list of things I had grumbled about: “Thank you, Lord, for canceling my flight — so that I won’t die in a plane crash.”
A woman sitting next to me in baggage claim directed my attention upward to a trail of ants, magnified about a billion times, coursing over the suspended heat duct. I asked her if it was “art.” She answered that she found it “disturbing.” She continued, “We have enough on our plate.”
I then asked if she was stuck here for a long time too. She said she expected so, unless she could come up with two dollars for a bus. I happened to have two dollars, so it worked out.
A fluke cancellation (make that one more item on the “grateful” list) and I was out of there in only 11 hours.

Another good reason to always bring something to read.
Amazing what $2 can do isn’t it? You might grumble for another two bucks for your next opportunity.
I seem to get “stuck” every time I fly to or through Denver. It doesn’t even have to be winter for this to happen. And yes, Karen O, it’s great to have something to read.

Great, great line! The natural comed first and then the spiritual, eh?
Janie, DIA is alsmost as bad as San Fran. What’s odd is I don’t remember Stapleton having as many problems as Denver’s little airport on the prarie.
WHAT A BLESSING… think of what you did for her …
she had a need of two dollars and it was a huge help to her..
God just brings these things into our path…
even at the oddest times.
Praise the Lord all that is behind the scenes that we dont even know about….sort of like driving with a fish bowl on the seat of the car
Funny coincidence - in the parking lot of the grocery store last night, a lady approached me and asked for a quarter because, she said, her food stamps hadn’t come yet. I gave her $2.
Not to detract from your post’s very important point….
The airports I’ve been in recently have places for charging cellphones — for $3-5, or something like that.
I feel like I’ve been whipsawed between the good and bad of this article and don’t know whether to kiss or smack the next airline person that tells me my flight will be, God willing and the plane doesn’t crash, in three days time.
The same thing happened to me over last spring break in Ft Meyers. It was 6 AM. I was there for an 8 AM flight on Saturday and they said due to weather and the full spring break schedule, they could possibly get me out on Tuesday afternoon.
I rented a car and drove even though it was 20 hours and I didn’t get home until Sunday evening.
A friend, when someone tries to panhandle him, grabs them gently by the elbow and pulls them close to whisper in their ear - no I don’t have a couple of bucks but I’m going to rob a store down the street and need some help - You want in?
He is surprised how many say yes.
According to a recent report about temp monitoring for the last 12 months, we’ve experienced substantial golabla cooling over the last year.
KRM,
And it has been wet too. Snow pack in Sunrise AZ is over 100″ - the first time that has happened in probably 20 years. Wife says that is has rain like crazy in Phoenix too being leaks for the first time in 15 years. Well, After 12-14 year of draught we sure need it.
Hopefully, Lake Powell won’t disappear after all this year. So far this tipping point for global warming has been great for the desert around Phoenix and we should have one of the best desert cactus blooms around April 7-15 on record.

Need any further proof that Christianity is nothing but a sop for women, children, and weak minded men?
Night Train,
You’re right. It is because one acknowledges one’s weakness and need for more than oneself that God does become real and all sufficient.
How do you cope with life and all it’s heartaches? Did you ever come to the conclusion that every person is fallible and will fail you? I have and I know God is the One who never fails and that fact alone can sustain me through anything.
It may not have worked for you, Night Train, but it clearly seems to be working for many many people. The first ‘It’ refers to your “Christianity”. The second ‘It’ refers to knowing Jesus as Lord and Savior.
Has it occurred to you that you can reject religion and still find Jesus?
Have a good night, Night Train. Try not to be too hard on us poor women, children and weak minded men who rejoice in the Lord. We’ve all been down your road.
