Rants! & Raves!
Here it is, Rants! & Raves!, your weekly chance to sound off. Remember the rules: 1. A Rave! is something that happened during the past week that you’re tickled about and is signified by the word “Rave!” and/or an appropriately happy emoticon.
2 A Rant! is something that happened during the past week that you’re steamed about and is signified by the word “Rant!” and/or an appropriately unhappy emoticon.
3. You may Rant! about something a person said, did or wrote, but you may not Rant! about generally disliking a person.
Have fun!

Rant!
I watched Jeopardy last night. I was answering the questions correctly left and right, and as it got close to the end, I suddenly realized that I’d gotten every single one right so far. Could I pitch a perfect game? I tried not to think about it so I wouldn’t jinx myself, but it was hard not to as more and more squares disappeared, and I kept getting the answer right.
Finally, there was one square left. I was nervous, but ready. The answer was This is the original name of Q-Tip cotton swabs. And there went my perfect game. The correct response is “What is Baby Gays?”. I said “What is Li’l Friends Of Dorothy?”
I was this close!
Rave: It’s pouring like crazy here.
Rant: 15 spin outs in SD county already and the sun hasn’t even come up yet! So Calis do not know how to drive in weather. We think the speed limit is an entitlement.
Rave: This storm is suppose to bring in waves up to 20 feet by Monday. Time to wax the big guns.
RAVE: It’s finished and printed. It’s waiting for my wife to review and sign it so I can post it.
RANT: This is the second time I entered this. The first time I got the dreaded screen that says I have to be logged in. The strange thing, when I hit C, the rest comes up, including the password.
My daughter is doing much better, and is (carefully!) back at work part-time. Thanks to those who prayed for her!
Rant:
I’m drawing a blank
Oh.
here’s rant:
China complaining about our satelite shot. What’s up with that? They just jealous because we showed ‘em up? Where do they have room to complain since they did it also? And didn’t do such a neat job of it, I might add…
Rave:
We took ours out in one!
Rave: A lively discussion on my “other” site about the rest of the country’s opinion of the South. Most were very complimentary, even the person of color from the Pacific Northwest who had travelled extensively down here.
Rave: A generous ex-husband who gave me half of his tax refund because I let him claim Chloe this year. I can survive another month!!!
Rant: ???I just can’t think of one today.
RAVE:Our seven-weeks-long bathroom remodel is done!
RANT: I’m starting to get sick . . .
RAVE: Everyone is very understanding, our weekend is free and I can just lie around.
RAVE: We should be able to pick up our new kitten in about an hour!
NT- You must have watched a rerun of Jeopardy!, as they are having the Teen Tournament this week. Those questions really are easier.
Rave: This is the day the LORD has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!
Rant: Not enough snow to call off school today. The neighboring district is closed due to the flu. I’m glad our district doesn’t have that problem, though we came close.
Rant: I have had an incredibly stiff neck the last two and a half days and am very tired.
Rave: I finally picked an avatar. I wonder if it will show up on this post
Janie, glad to hear about your daughter. I was just wondering this morning how she was doing.
Klasko:
Sorry about the rejections. The “good news” is it was a quick rejection, and you can send it out again. (My last couple rejections have come after the publisher has had a book eight months or so, saying the whole time, “I like it, and I’m seeing if we can publish it….” It’s still a rejection when it comes, but after months of thinking I finally have a home for the book.) Keep trying.
Rave: After a slow January (very little work), my February has been full, with several potential projects waiting in the wings. Furthermore, I have actually liked the last several books I’ve worked with–which isn’t always the case when one edits.
Rant: I’m oh so ready for spring, and the weather is worse than it was in January–gray every day, chilly, windy. Of course, last year we had an early spring and then a freeze, so part of my eagerness for spring is that we never had one last year. And I’d rather wait for spring than get another one like that, when the azaleas froze mid-blossom and the trees had to start all over and put out a new set of leaves (but we had brown branches with dead leaves for several weeks in the meantime).
World Mag Blog logging me off at random intervals. This time it logged me back off and no matter who much I carefully typed in the password, it wouldn’t let me it.
I don’t know if it was because I finally put a lower case i in the Make it Man or what… but it finally let me back in (after I threatened to change the password).
Cameron - congrats on getting a kitten. We had 6 Siamese born in December and 5 have gone to wonderful homes (we are intentionally keeping 1). They are soooooo much fun, and so cute. One went to the family of a Pastor who is friend of ours. They have a 23-year-old son with Downs Syndrome and he is so happy to have her. He named her Princess Rose.
Ranting with Laura - I too have had the stiff neck which has also caused a miserable headache these past two days.
Raving with Mumsee - I got a seed catalog in the mail yesterday - always enjoy looking through those and making plans. The grandson went through it with me yesterday and he has BIG plans - I told him “Talk to your Grandpa about that idea!”
(Mumsee - Do you have any blueberries at your place? I’ve always wanted to put some of those in.)
Mommy - I love it that the Pastor’s son has Princess Rose. That made me smile.
Rant: Had the flu for a week. Missed 4 days of work. I’m way behind.
Rave: Flu is gone! The weekend is here! I read 3 great books while I was down on the couch.
Mommy,
Thanks! Jackie is our second tuxedo tabby in the house. So far she’s hiding in the room we’ve set aside for her to get acclimated in, but she has a sweet temperament and the foster family who had her before us says she gets along with other cats well.
Rant: Because clothes manufacturers can’t make pants that actually fit I just got a call from the tailor. It just cost me 40.00 to make a pair of pants fit me.
Son & dil have a tuxedo tabby who weighs 29 lb. 10 oz. (weighed at the vet last week)
Rave: We’re getting a big tax refund, which will help us in our quest for debt reduction!
Rant: Debt doesn’t go away fast enough!
VS,
Yes, indeed, blueberries are in. Sadly, between the coyotes and the deer and the puppies…I don’t get many. But I keep trying!
Mommy, that’s not a cat: that’s a Thanksgiving turkey.
Rave - Going home this weekend to Wife, Daughter and Doxie Dog
Rant - Leaving early on Monday to less desirable location.
Rob Hays: Praise God about your father. I have a friend who lost a boyfriend that way, no chance to say goodbye…not a pretty picture. (He realized something was wrong and drove himself to the hospital, but died in surgery.) I’m so glad they caught it. I hope the job opportunity comes together, if it is indeed the right one for you.
Rant: 102 fever for three days
Rave: 102 fever for three days. Decent weight loss program.
Anlir #28- Get a “man purse” or some other shoulder bag. I was always losing things out of my pockets as well. Of course, now if I go somewhere without the bag I don’t have my wallet, but at least I know where it is!
