This is what I tell people who have just moved or kids in the military lamenting the "fact" that there are no believers in the military. He has his people out there but you probably won't find them in your living room until you invite them there. If He has placed you where there are truly no believers other than you, I would suggest you get to work showing what a believer is and perhaps you will soon have family.

Mark Roth has a good point as well, we need to take advantage of those moments to let people know we are believers so we can make the connections. Not wearing a sign or making an announcement but living in such a way and speaking when the Spirit gives opportunity.

Elijah had spent the past few years in hiding, first at the brook, then with the widow of Zaraphath. He hadn't exactly had opportunities for fellowship with others who were faithful to God.

Those who were, may well have been faithfully going about their daily lives, but were not called, like Elijah, to speak out publicly. People undergoing persecution for their faith don't generally look for opportunities to let everyone know who they are, because it will often lead to harm to their families and fellow believers.

Elijah may have known, intellectually, that there could well be such people around Israel. But he hadn't seen them, didn't feel the comfort of knowing who and where they were, didn't know who he could turn to for help.

"God had 7,000 believers there that Elijah knew nothing about."

I want to know why not.

If I had been one of the 7000, would Elijah have known he was not alone?

More importantly, who today feels alone because I have not shown them I'm with them?

Let me be a faithful friend and brother!
