#9: RDEAN: you are a historical revisionist. Please take a moment to reflect upon your obvious need to recognize and speak the truth….or just keep quiet and stop doing more harm.

I don't know what you are taking about. I assume you read the papers, watch the news, check out news from other countries on the internet? Or not.

Well..I can't believe I'm going to say this.....err...type this, but Katie's got a good report there. I just hope she's being honest about her support for our military. Still a cutie, too.

abandon the Shia and Sunni to duke it out for control of the non oil-producing regions

Unfortunately, that's going to happen anyway. Bush and Cheney did nothing to protect schools and museums, hospitals and government offices when the US invaded. Only the "Ministry of Oil" was protected. That's it. The answer is so obvious, I will spare the details.

What is much more likely, the rest of the Middle East will step in to contain the violence. The reason violence is down in Iraq is because Iran has been putting pressure on the Shiites, we know that to be a fact. When the violence stops, the Arabs expect us to leave. Iran has been working toward this goal. They plan on annexing the "Shiite" part of Iraq. What else could it be? This is a disaster for the US. Everything Bush has done has been a disaster. I don't understand why, after seven years of disaster, anyone would believe that Bush could be right about anything?

RDean, it has always amazed me that we didnt at all get upset when Yugoslavia disintegrated. When the USSR split apart there was no teeth-gnashing on our part. The nation of Iraq's boundaries and "nationhood" were conceived by diplomats in European parlors after world war one.
Right about now I'm inclined to say lets cut an energy and defense quid pro quo with the Kurds and abandon the Shia and Sunni to duke it out for control of the non oil-producing regions.
If it looks like AlQaeda is about to set up a new base country then repeal all the Church committee anti-assassination laws (or put in a phone call to the Mossad!)

#2: Islam has been the national religion of Iraq for centuries.

Actually, no. Iraq as a country hasn't existed for even 70 years. During that time, there was no state religion. Because the country was made up of warring religious factions, the government had to maintain the illusion of being a secular government. Christians and women were allowed to serve within the government at even the highest levels. Granted, Sadam was a despot, but it was with his iron hand that all the different people were forced to be civil with each other. Sadam killed a hundred and fifty thousand Kurds (a branch of Islam) for trying to separate from the union. When the south is in this country tried to secede from the union, the north went to war killing many times that number. Currently, they are in the middle of a civil war that we allowed to happen.

Now, Islam has been written into the constitution as the official national religion. The has led to hundreds of thousand of Christians chased out of the country or killed outright. When Sadam was in power, women were allowed to wear western style clothes and work. Now, women cannot travel without the permission of a male relative. Most no longer receive medical help of any type. They are not allowed to work and in many places, are forced to wear bags, uh, I mean, “burkas”.

When the US invaded Iraq, al Queada entered the country. They didn’t enter until we destroyed and disbanded the Iraqi military that was keeping them out. Sadam would never, ever share power. That’s the MO of any dictator. They don’t share power. Even the most simple person understands this. Now, we are trying to build the Iraq military up to what we thought it was before we invaded. Only now, Iraq, by constitution, Iraq is a radical Islamic fundamentalist government. Why do you people think this country will become a democracy? Are you high? Iraq was bad with Sadam, but why would anything think it’s better now????

How come the conservatives and Christians know so little about a war they support? It’s our children that are over there being shot at. You guys have a responsibility to know what we are sending them into. Is it just “faith”? Do you believe anything?

Islam has been the national religion of Iraq for centuries. Christians in Islamic Iraq have always been 2nd class citizens. They have suffered varying degrees of persecution according to Islamic whims ever since the Iraqi people embraced the lies of Mohammed centuries ago.

In that respect, the present US supported constitution merely recognizes a thousand year reality. That constitution did not make Isam the national religion or chase the Christians out of Iraq. What it did was to make a start at providing some protection and rights for Christians and other religions after hundreds of years of Islamic barbarity. The fanatical terrorists don't want the new constitution to prevail. They want to maintain the old ways of terror and persecution and are doing everything in their power to destroy the good things brought to Iraq by the American presence there.

The presence of US troops celebrating Christmas in Iraq brings the Iraqi people a few steps closer to real freedom. Eventually they will recognize that Christ brings freedom from Muslim terror and oppression. Then they will have a Merry Christmas too!

Is it true the only people celebrating Christmas in Iraq are the US military? Because all of the Christians that used to live there were chased out when ISLAM became the "national religion" under the constitution that we supported? The best Christmas present would be to bring our young people home so they can celebrate Christmas with their own families with people that want them.
Merry Christmas!
